Nail Care At Home: How to Keep Nail Polish From Chipping

tips and tricks to make nail polish last longer

We’ve helped you maintain healthy nails and prep your nails for a flawless mani, now it’s time for manicure aftercare. In this article we’ll review tips and tricks to make your Nimble nail polish last longer and stay chip-free.

Right After Your Mani:

Extra Drying: Take advantage of our extra trying time! At the end of your Nimble manicure, you’ll be asked if you want to add on extra drying time. We recommend doing this to help speed up the polish hardening process. During extra drying time, the fans in your Nimble will turn on. While the fans are running, you can place any finger or hand combination inside your Nimble.

Quick Tip: If you missed the extra drying time at the end of the manicure, you can always go to Profile → Manicure Settings → Extra Drying Time to start the fans.

Cold Water: Did you know that dipping your polished nails in cold water can help them set faster? Fill a bowl with cold water and a few ice cubes and place your nails in the cold water for 30 - 60 seconds. This will help the nail polish to harden quicker. In a pinch, you can also run your polished nails under a faucet with cold water running.

Long Term Care:

Extra Top Coat: Apply an additional layer of top coat 2 - 3 days after your manicure to increase longevity. Feel free to use the top coat from your Nimble capsule set. Just remove the cap and use the attached brush to apply a thin layer of the top coat. You can do this every few days to make your manicure last as long as possible.

Avoid Water Submersion: Prolonged exposure to water (especially warm or hot water) can cause your polish to lift. Avoid submerging your hands when taking baths and wear gloves when doing dishes or cleaning.

Don’t Use Your Nails As Tools: Avoid using your nails to do things like open cans or peel off labels, as this can cause your polish to chip.

Skip Nail Biting: Try not to bite your nails, as this can damage the polish.

Touch-Ups: If polish chips on one or more of your nails, you can do a touch-up with your Nimble. Use nail polish remover to remove all polish from your chipped nail, ensuring it’s completely clear and free from polish. You can then start a manicure as you normally would with your Nimble, only inserting the nail you wish to re-paint.

With these simple steps, you can ensure your Nimble mani remains long-lasting and vibrant.
